Rock musician Ryan Adams has released his anticipated cover of Taylor Swift's 1989 album and the result is a wonderful Bruce Springsteen-esque makeover that could actually give the original a run for its money. Released on Monday, the album has received critical acclaim online, and is out-selling Swift's original on the US iTunes chart, peaking at number two and sitting ahead of Swift's album at number four. When Adams announced he was covering 1989 in August, Swift got behind him, writing on Twitter: "I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I'm going to celebrate today every year as a holiday".
"Ryan's music helped shape my songwriting. This is surreal and dreamlike," she wrote in September. "It's actually incredibly humbling to find a connection with someone else's words and someone else's songs and to open yourself up and to feel them fully, and find out where those stories take you," Adams, 40, said.
